If you would like to direct a domain address that you have to some other domain name or subdomain, the best way to do this would be to use a CNAME record. By creating such a record, the domain address being redirected loses all its records (A, MX, etc) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain address it is directed to. That way, if you use a web design service by some provider that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain name and not only will it be pointed to the Internet site you have created, but it will also appear in the browser address bar at all times. Alternative possible uses of a CNAME record are to forward all of the targeted traffic from various subdomains to their main domain address, or to use the webmail service of your webhosting company by using webmail.your-doman.com, for example. The latter will work only by creating a CNAME record for a subdomain because such a record set up for the main domain renders it impossible to use e-mail addresses.

CNAME Records in Cloud Hosting

In case you have a cloud hosting plan from our company and you wish to create a CNAME record, it will take you only a few clicks to get it done. You can access the DNS records for all domain addresses and subdomains hosted inside your account via the Hepsia Control Panel that comes with each and every plan and adding a new record is as basic as clicking on a button, choosing the type, which will be CNAME in this case, inputting the actual record value and saving the change. If you have never added such a record before, we have a Help section with a detailed video tutorial which you can watch, or you can simply contact us and we'll help you with this task. If you have set up an Internet site via another provider, you want to use a private URL for your webmail or you wish to designate a subdomain to be used with the services of a different provider, for example Google Apps, all it takes is creating a CNAME record with a few mouse clicks inside your Control Panel.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you have a semi-dedicated server with our company and you would like to set up a CNAME record, it requires no more than a couple of mouse clicks to complete this task. The plans are managed through our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel in which you will see a section dedicated to the DNS records of the domain names and subdomains hosted inside the account. To create a CNAME record, you will only have to choose the record type and the hostname (domain or subdomain), input where the latter is going to be pointed to and save the modification.
